Leadership and Vision

I worked in a team led by Neil when he was BT's Digital, Data, and Integration architecture director. Not only is Neil a visionary architect but he is also a brilliant team leader. At BT, he managed a team of senior professionals and had the knack of creating exactly the right circumstances and motivation for them (us!) all to excel. Having worked in the same business unit as Neil for the last few years, it has become obvious that Neil has exceptional vision around both new technology and the way it can be used to drive direct benefit to an organisation. His ability to understand the business need and architect the appropriate solution to match that, while engaging the organisation to appreciate the value are unequalled in my opinion. I worked as part of Neil's team BT where he joined us to lead the Digital and Data Architecture team. It was a great time and I'd be happy to work with Neil again. I found Neil to be full of energy and passion which was always a positive influence whether it was a small team meeting or a big workshop. The energy was always focused which meant 'things' ( decisions, policies, road-maps ) got done, this is not always the case amongst architects.

I’ve had the pleasure of working very closely with Neil on multiple longer running projects. I am an ardent supporter of his way of working. Not only is he an exceptionally sharp thinker and strategist in defining solutions for even the most challenging programmes. Neil is also able to communicate these ideas to multidisciplinary teams and, in particular, to bring client contacts on board and convince them. Through his extensive hands-on experience in the field, Neil is able to concretely support teams also in the implementation of programs.

I would particularly like to emphasise Neil's interest and practical knowledge in sustainability both specifically in the context of IT and data, as well as for the sustainability transformation of business operations.
